First Normal Form
Used in data management database systems. A normalized table. Abbreviated 1NF. First, second, and third normal forms are sufficient for most data management.
The first normal form eliminates repeating groups. One criterion for the first normal form specifies that the table should faithfully represent the concept of a
relation in our relational data model. In addition, and arguably the most significant defining criterion for the first normal form the table must be free of repeating
groups. In order to faithfully represent the concept of a relation, table design must meet the following concepts of a relation in the relational data model: It describes
one entity. The order of the rows and columns must be meaningless. No rows can be duplicated, thus requiring each table to have a primary key. Every column value contains
one value that is appropriate for the attribute being described.
